ARTS ITOYAは佐賀県武雄市にあるアーティスト・イン・レジデンスプログラムです。2018年に福岡で長年レジデンスを運営しているStudio Kuraが元呉服屋だった建物を改装し運営をスタートさせました。 武雄は佐賀市と長崎県佐世保市の中間に位置する町で、町の中心には開湯以来1300年経つ武雄温泉があり、この温泉には日本銀行や東京駅の設計を行った辰野金吾設計の楼門があり、国の重要文化財に指定されています。 滞在する作家が歴史や伝統工芸の文化、自然豊かな景観の魅力を再発見しながら制作活動をおこなうことができる空間を作ってきます

Arts Itoya is an artist in residence program in Takeo, Saga Prefecture, Japan. Studio Kura, the company in charge of the long running residence progam in Fukuoka Prefecture, started it in 2018 after reforming an old kimono shop called Itoya. Arts Itoya provides artists with residential facilities and free rental bicycle during their staying period. Accommodation consists on one traditional Japanese rural houses, which can be shared by up to four artists. Each artist is provided a private single room. Common room, bathroom, toilet and kitchen facilities are shared with other residence artists and there is internet WiFi connection in each house. One divided studio space is offered for an artist as a working space as well as an exhibition space. Enough restaurants and stores for daily needs at bicycle distance. Artists are welcome to visit our office to work and ask any needs, located in 3-10 minutes distance from the residence house. They will be able to meet a number of people during the period.
